About Us
Our Origin Story
Through a series of serendipitous meet ups at the end of 2023, a group of us wanted to further the post-growth movement in Singapore.
We thought of gathering people from the Degrowth Facebook group to watch a film together. And perhaps, organise regular meetups.
After putting out our event publicity, our sign-up numbers grew week after week, till we had to switch to a larger event space.
This was a sign to us that there was a growing interest in alternative economic systems in Singapore. And... that was how it all started.
A Brief History
1 Feb 2024
Our first public event. We organised a film screening and discussion of 'Outgrow The System', hosted at Yale-NUS College. There was an overwhelming response and turn out, with over 150 in attendance.25 Feb-28 Apr 2024
PGS Circles Season 1. We hosted a weekly learning space at Crane Downtown Gallery. It was our first experiment in gathering people to learn about post-growth.5 May 2024
Our first collab!. We co-organised a film discussion with Foodscape Pages at Joyful Garden Sangha.15 Jun-27 Oct 2024
PGS Circles Season 2. Taking our learnings from organising the first season, we kept the weekly cadence but made it more discussive and accessible with the fishbowl format. We were also the fortunate receiver of venue providers such as Stranger Conversations, imPAct@ Hong Lim Green, and The Fashion Parade.23 Jun 2024
Our first (and only) open house!. We hosted an open house at 195 Pearl's Hill Terrace as part of an experiment by multistorycarepark and Stranger Conversations to revitalise the building. It was a lively event with the attendees filling the hallways.2025
PGS Circles Season 3. We changed the cadence and format of our circles to embrace the capacities we had for the year. Instead of weekly gatherings, we came together monthly and collaborated with other groups and individuals who were aligned with the movement. We hosted guests from overseas and leaned into the collective intelligence of our collaborators.
